The Festival was to celebrate the Joe Feiweles Memorial Trusts 10th anniversary of supporting artists in their work within their artistic discipline and with children and young people. Five of the bursary holders from previous years returned to work on the project with schools from the Wakefield area. Bursary holders were assisted by other artists and students from Bretton Hall College.

The film looks at why the arts and creativity are important in people's lives capturing views on this from artists, students, children and teachers.

Art in the Park is a film made as part of a collection of films made accross the Yorkshire Region to document life around the Millenium.

Documentation of a major arts edication bursary scheme in its tenth year at the Yokshire Sculpture Park.
Title-Art in the Park
The film opens with groups of children beside words made out of cloth; the words read `Art in the Park’.
Title-The Joe Feiweles Memorial Bursary was set up ten years ago to help young artists gain experience of working in the community and within education.
Title-In July 1999 five former bursary holders came together in a week-long celebration of arts in education.
Title-Over a thousand school children visited the park to work with the bursary holders and were assisted by students from Bretton Hall College and other artists.
Shots of children getting out of coaches; some of them are primary school age and some are older teenagers.
There is a brief shot of a man blowing fire onto a torch.

She talks about why the Park is so special to her and how the open space is great for the imagination. There are shots of her interacting with the children as she gets them to make up poetry about their surroundings.

He is outside with the children gathering wood; he tells them that they are going to use objects to decorate sculptures.

She describes how wonderful it is to see the children learning without her having to teach them.

She talks about how important it was for her to receive the bursary and how it has helped her as a film maker.
Some of the children talk about how much they are enjoying the experience of learning in this park environment.

He says that when he was a child he had to play several instruments but now he wouldn’t do anything else. In the next shot he is in the music room giving lessons to a group of teenagers.

She is in a hall with lots of children; she gets them to dance and move around the room.
She says how good it is to teach these children to move freely.

He talks about the great opportunities that are available to the children that take part in this programme.

She uses drama as a way of teaching children about issues; she gets them to pretend to be on a train.
There are more short interviews with Alex, Judi, Rod, a student and Martin.
Some children are working with Rod and are given a lump of plaster to clasp in their hands; they are asked to describe the final piece.
Older children are sitting on the grass talking about how much more they are learning by seeing the material first-hand rather than hearing about it in a classroom.

Alex says a final piece about what a wonderful project it is and then the film ends with shots of the coaches leaving the park.
